Studio Equipment Pilates

Studio Equipment Pilates classes use the Reformer, Tower, Combo Chair, Ladder Barrel, Arc, Oov and small props to assist or challenge all abilities.

You will have completed an assessment class or have some experience with Pilates and want to delve deeper into your mobility and strength; address faulty movement patterns; or are post-rehab having been referred by your Osteopath or Physiotherapist

Participants will be asked to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ).

Mat Pilates

Mat classes are many people’s introduction to pilates and it’s a great way to learn techniques that you can take home with you. Classes have up to 8 people and incorporate a variety of props. If you’re new to Pilates you need to do a one-to-one studio assessment class first. Please call to arrange these.

Participants will be asked to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ).

Private & Semi-private classes

Private classes benefit from a one to one environment and use Reformer, Tower, Combo Chair, Ladder Barrel, Arc, Oov, Mat and small props to assist or challenge all abilities.

You will have completed an assessment class or have some experience with Pilates and want to delve deeper into your mobility and strength; address faulty movement patterns; are post-rehab having been referred by your Osteopath or Physiotherapist; or simply want some ‘you’ time.

Semi-Private

Like Private but 2 per class.

Studio assessment classes

If you’re new to Pilates, or are being referred by your Osteopath or Physiotherapist, at least one studio assessment is required. These equipment classes are 1 to 1 and ensure you get the most out of Pilates going forward.

A maximum 2 classes are available at the studio assessment rate and these are arranged informally, so please call to check availability.

Participants will be asked to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ).

Common questions

Is Pilates right for me?

Pilates is for every body. We all need a little maintenance. Many aches and pains we associate with getting older such as stiff low backs, shoulder impingement and aching knees can be caused by faulty movement patterns and lack of conditioning. This can result from injury, over-use or sedentary lifestyles and can affect us at any time in our lives. Pilates provides you with strategies to address these and restore confidence in your movement.

Can I book single classes?

For flexible class dates or to try-out Pilates I recommend you try a casual. Give me a call and I can let you know what's available. Booking a course of usually 5-8 classes will get you a discounted rate. Courses are non-refundable and there are no make-up classes so if you’re unsure consider taking casuals.

What level am I?

Studio (equipment) classes can accomodate all levels. For the mat classes there are 3 levels, 1 being complete beginner to 3 advanced. Picking the right one will help you get the most out of your time. If you're new to Pilates or are unsure, an assessment class is recommended.

Do I need an assessment before I book?

It depends. Yes if you have a specific problem or injury, have been referred by an Osteopath or Physiotherapist or you’re new to Pilates. I offer up to two 1 to 1 studio assessment classes at £48 each.

How many people will be in my class?

Mat classes have a maximum of 8 people and studio (equipment) classes have a maximum of 3 per class.

How do I book private or semi-private classes?

I do have some slots available for this. Its best to let me know you’re interested and I’ll see what I can do.

Why do you use equipment?

Pilates from its beginnings in the early twentieth century has always been associated with the reformer among other equipment. While mat classes are an accessible way into Pilates, the equipment allows the level of challenge or support of each exercise to be tailored to make the most of your time.

What should I bring?

Aside from some non-restrictive clothing, all participants are asked to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ). These can be completed ahead of your first class or together during an assessment class. Download and print a PARQ

Our privacy and data policy

All participants are to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ). It is an insurance requirement for this to be kept on file for 5 years.
